Pain after 5 weeks

Post by FlorenceA »

Hi eveyone,

I had an ectopic pregnancy and my right tube removed via laproscopy 5 weeks ago, after 2 weeks I was walking around normally and minimal pain and physically feeling like normal. I went back to work as Childrens nurse after 3 weeks. I do long hours, but took it carefully. I was tired, but so happy to be back at work and only slight increase in pain.

After a week at work I noticed the lump under my bikini incision getting bigger and started to get a lot of pain up my right side, and feeling as though I had a stitch like I'd been running. I initially put the pain down to mobilising more and starting my first period post op. I went to the GP 5 days ago, and have been started on antibiotics. They said there is an infection under the incision and causing the pain to radiate up my right hand side. I have been signed off sick and been resting for 5 days. I am on strong pain killers, but still not feeling like I am getting better. The lump is still there and hard, and still have pain up the right hand side.

I am so fed up of being in pain, and thought physically I would be better by now.

Has anyone else been through something similar? Thank you!!!

Hi FlorenceA,

I am so sorry to hear that you have suffered an ectopic pregnancy and loss. It can take us by surprise and leave us with many questions. I am not medically qualified to speak to your particular situation. You are doing the right thing by speaking to your GP for follow-up. It also might be useful to keep a journal reflecting on the location of pain, when you feel it, any pain relief, etc. This will help you communicate with your GP.

Your ectopic pregnancy is still quite recent, so you may have more questions and emotions. Please know that these boards are a safe space for you to share, ask, or vent. Please know that we are here for you as long as needed.

With good wishes,

Michele
