Hcg levels and advice

Post by Pika123 »

LMP 2/09/2023

At roughly 4 weeks pregnant I had 2 bleeds.
I light pink just when I wiped, rhe other 2 days later one heavy brown bleed when I went for a wee.

I was booked in for a scan and bloods at what would be 6weeks since lmp.
Hcg was 2231 and scan was showing a empty sac, a pool of blood next to the sac and a pregnancy cyst on my ovary.
They could not locate an embryo so told me to return in 2 days for repeat bloods.
Hcg had only risen by 200 if that and ive been told to return in 1 week for exeat scan and bloods and to see what happens next.

Is there any chance of pregnancy to still be viable. After 2 miscarriages this year was hoping ghee could still be a chance.

Dear Pika,
I am so sorry to hear of the worrying time you are going through,
I am so sorry but we are not able to provide personalised medical advice. Generally speaking in the early weeks of pregnancy the hCG levels double every 2 days. We can not look at blood tests alone, there also needs to be a positive identification of an embryo in the uterus on a scan.
I would advise as your blood hCG levels are rising, It might be worth asking them to check the levels again in a few days as although I do not wish to alarm you, hCG levels that are rising slowly may indicate a possible ectopic pregnancy. Again a scan is needed to confirm this.
I would advise speaking to your medical team for more information.
Please seek urgent medical advice with any worsening bleeding or pain or you feel dizzy and or develop shoulder tip pain as these can be signs of a worsening ectopic pregnancy.
I hope the next few days gives you some more information and we will be here for you for as long as you need.
Sending much love and gentle hugs,
Karen x
