Tubal ectopic and interstitial ectopic

Post by Mazvid »

Hi, I have just had my 4th pregnancy loss in the past year. I had two early miscarriages, one of which required MVA. I then had a tubal ectopic needing two doses of methotrexate in May. Last month I found out I had an interstitial ectopic on the right side, it had stopped growing so we opted for medical management with misoprostol. I had some retained products removed a week later via evacuation under GA. I have been advised to wait two months to try to conceive again. Has anyone had a tubal ectopic followed by an interstitial ectopic on the same side? Any success stories? I'm terrified that my risk of another ectopic is quite high and I'm unsure whether to start thinking about ivf as an option. Any advice or similar experience would be really helpful. Thank you

Dear Mazvid,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancies and losses. To experience one loss is difficult, dealing with multiple losses is heartbreaking and my heart truly goes out to you.
Sadly there is an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy following multiple ectopics, however we do hear from many people who successfully concieve following multiple losses. Unfortunately IVF does not guarantee that you won't experience another ectopic.
As you have experienced multiple losses, I would advise talking through your options with a fertility specialist. They will have access to your medical notes and be able to give you more individualized medical advice.
Sending much love,
Karen x
