Shoulder pain

Post by Hannah1317 »

Hi,

I had an ectopic pregnancy in October at 8 weeks and my right tube was removed.

I have had a period since then and I’m now waiting for my second which is 3 days late. I also have a pain in my shoulder but it’s more in the shoulder blade rather than the tip. I just wondered those of you who had shoulder pain, what sort of pain was it and where was it?

If I am having another ectopic pregnancy I would only be 4 weeks along so I’m guessing it’s too early for the EPU to do anything and I just have to wait it out.

Thank you

Dear Hannah,
Shoulder tip pain is exactly that, in the tip. If your discomfort is along the collar bone, It is less likely hear be anything related to an ectopic pregnancy. You could always try some simple analgesia such as paracetamol, if it helps it is also more likely be be muscle type of pain.
As you are late for your period, I would advise taking a pregnancy test if you haven't done so, if it is positive and you are concerned about any symptoms of pain you have, please seek medical advice just to be on the safe side.

Sending much love,
Karen x

So I didn't have a shoulder pain during my ectopic instead it was leg and knee pain, it's like the nerves affected were lower in my body.

It is very early to have symptoms or even diagnose an ectopic, so definitely take a pregnancy test and book an early scan at your local EPU which they will see you because of your history.
