Ciara's Story

I got into the 2024 London Landmarks Half Marathon through the ballot last year and was over the moon that this was going to be my first half marathon after only taking up running 5/10kms a couple of years ago. The fact that this event was sponsored by Tommy’s it felt like a special event. Since my ectopic in September 2019, I have used every excuse to raise money for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust and this time round was going to be no different. This charity has not only helped myself and continues to do so, but so many other people and families who unfortunately are experiencing, or have experienced, an ectopic. For this half marathon, I have raised £692 for the charity so far which I am over the moon about.

Although going through an ectopic was one of the hardest things I have ever had to go through as I fell pregnant on the coil at 20, I am so proud to represent this community and wear my purple top with pride. I am so grateful to have met some lifelong friends from this awful experience and I will forever be in debt to the charity and these friends who have supported me so much.

Crossing that finishing line at 2:11:17 was a huge achievement in itself, but it made it even more special knowing I had raised some money for this charity so close to our hearts.

Our deepest thanks goes out to Ciara for her ongoing support and determination running in the Landmarks Half Marathon raising much needed funds and awareness.
